Modular Expansion Joint for Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge

The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge (HZMB), a China’s Mega Project, is both the longest sea crossing and the longest fixed link on earth and is the first infrastructure cooperated constructed by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau-three major cities on the Pearl River Delta. Datong Inc., the one and only domestic expansion joint supplier, cooperates with BASF Watson Bowman Acme and Sanfield Industrial, and participates in design, manufacture through installation.

The HZMB is most complicated project in China on both technology and construction. Since the high temperature and humidity marine environment, the good corrosion resistance and reliable structural design of expansion joints are required. We finished our design draft in 2016. The design approved by contractor after a series of revise based on learning from the international standard and taking the project practice into account, and finally been applied into the project in March, 2018.

The HZMB expansion joint project is another major project after NOH2, Qatar and Expo Dubai 2020, UAE. “Made in China” is enhancing its competitiveness in the field of engineering in the world.
